This is an engaging course that covers timely and relevant computer concepts for those in the 7th – 8th grade or who are ages 12 to 14. Topics include topics such as “Internet social responsibility”, “advanced computer concepts”, “how the Internet works”, word processing, spreadsheets and presentation software, etc. Most lessons contain video instruction, assignments and a quiz. Concepts are taught by doing projects or completing assignments with some story or theme in mind. No long boring lectures!
Points are awarded for completing each lesson, doing well on quizzes and assignments. Towards the end of the class points can be redeemed for small incentives from the Code Vapor store.
The other half of this course is learning how to master touch typing. The goal is for the student to achieve at least 60+ words per minute without errors. I use an interactive typing tutor that makes learning fun through drills and typing games.
Grades are automatically displayed in the righthand side banner of the lesson.
